Principal Psychiatrist

Dr. Vinit Sawhney has been working as a Psychiatrist for adults for the last 9 years. Dr Sawhney has extensive experience is treating a wide range of mental health conditions including anxiety, depression, bipolar affective disorder, personality disorder, substance abuse and psychosis. Dr. Sawhney’s practice is based on thorough assessment and appropriate use of therapeutic techniques combined with evidence-based prescription of medication and psychological therapies. Dr Sawhney also works collaboratively with psychologists and your General Practitioner to provide you holistic care and achieve best outcome for you.

For the last six years, Dr Sawhney has been working as a consultant Psychiatrist in the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. His initial training in Psychiatry was at the prestigious National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bangalore, India. It is the most reputable tertiary centre for mental health service in India. After that Dr Sawhney moved to Australia and trained further to achieve the Fellowship of Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrist. Dr. Sawhney is involved in teaching programs as an honorary Senior lecturer at Queensland University.


Dr. Iti Agarwal completed her MBBS from King George Medical College, one of the highly prestigious colleges in India. Following this, she then completed her Diploma in Child Health from GSVM college in India; after which Dr. Agarwal migrated to Australia and completed her training, as required by the Australian psychiatry regulatory body. Her training included a sub-speciality in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. This sub-specialty has enables her immensely in her day to day practice, understanding complex patients, working in a MDT set-up and other psychiatric issues. She received my FRANZCP degree last year. Currently Dr Agarwal is now a private practice practitioner through Tele-health, and also works part-time at RBWH, managing complex inpatients and outpatients.

She has special interest in treating depression and anxiety disorders such as Generalised Anxiety Disorder, OCD, etc.

Among various psychological treatment methods, her interests include CBT, IPT and Mindfulness therapy.
